This listing includes the most commonly used timing covers for Jeep 4.0L engines. Please review the year, model, part number, and design before purchasing.

1991–2001 JEEP CHEROKEE XJ / 1993–1998 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ZJ - MOST COMMON

• These timing covers were used on 1991–2001 Jeep Cherokee XJs and 1993–1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJs with the 4.0L engine.

• Chrysler Part Number: 53020221

• Early versions used the same part number but included a timing sight hole for finding Top Dead Center (TDC).

• The sight hole is generally not needed, so Chrysler later removed it while keeping the same part number.

• Unless you leave a note at checkout requesting the sight-hole version, you will receive the newer version without the sight hole.

1999–2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WJ / 2000–2006 JEEP WRANGLER TJ

• These timing covers were used on 1999–2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJs and 2000–2006 Jeep Wrangler TJs with the 4.0L engine and coil-pack ignition system.

• These engines use a coil pack, not a distributor.

• Chrysler Part Number: 53010420 / 63605

• Earlier timing covers may look similar, but the design is different from the XJ and ZJ timing covers.

• WJ/TJ timing covers do NOT interchange with XJ/ZJ timing covers.

1987–1990 JEEP CHEROKEE XJ RENEGADE / RENIX

• The 1987–1990 Renix Jeep Cherokee XJ timing cover has a similar design to Chrysler Part Number 53020221.

• However, it has slightly different spacing on one of the larger bolt mounting locations.

• Renix/AMC Part Number: 8933002985

2.5L FOUR-CYLINDER ENGINES

• These timing covers may also fit 2.5L four-cylinder Jeep engines.

• I believe the fitment years may be the same as the 4.0L years listed above, but I am not 100% certain. Please verify fitment before purchasing for a 2.5L application.
